Teletherapy, or online therapy via video or phone, has become increasingly popular in recent years. And for good reason. Many studies have shown that teletherapy can be equally, if not more, effective than traditional face-to-face therapy.
For starters, teletherapy offers greater convenience. You can access a therapist right from the comfort of your own home, with no need to worry about commuting or dealing with scheduling conflicts. This convenience factor increases your chances of actually following through with a therapy program.
Many studies have found that online therapy is just as effective as traditional therapy for treating anxiety, depression, sleep problems, and low self-esteem. Moreover, people tend to feel more comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings via video or phone than they do when talking face-to-face with a therapist.
All in all, the evidence suggests that teletherapy is a safe and effective way to receive mental health care. So if you’re considering therapy but feel intimidated by traditional approaches, teletherapy may be a great way to get the help you need.
